31 March 2026 Meeting

March 31 @ 6:00 pm7:00 pm
Free

Living Streets has long advocated for policy change to make our streets safer, more walkable, and more connected. We have made detailed submissions to the government, offering practical suggestions grounded in evidence and community experience. This work remains essential. But influence does not only flow through submissions and reports.

The book The Policy Playbook (https://www.thepolicyplaybook.org/ ) points to a complementary approach: if you want governments to act, don’t just propose ideas, demonstrate them. Small, well-designed experiments can show what works in practice. They reduce uncertainty, build confidence, and create a pathway for policy change grounded in real-world outcomes.

This meeting is about exactly that. We will come together to identify practical experiments that individuals can run on their own or with one or two others, demonstrate to others and trial them. For example, an individual can run an experiment where they travel at the speed limits for a given journey and then the same journey keeping the maximum speed at 10 kph less than the speed limit.

This meeting will be held at the Conservation Council Office at 6pm on Tuesday.  You might like to run a small experiment where you travel all or some part of the way by walking and public transport. You can record the times and costs, and compare them for coming to the meeting by car versus walking.

Come to the meeting and bring your ideas, and we will discuss.

We would love you to join us!
