Living Streets Canberra is incorporating! 

Notice is hereby given that the inaugural meeting of the members of Living Streets Canberra Inc. will be held:

Prospective members are invited to meet to approve the rules​ (constitution), confirm the association’s name and not‑for‑profit purpose, appoint the inaugural committee and authorise someone to lodge the application. 

The rules​ we have prepared are the ACT Model Rules with:

  • our Name and Objects added (as required by the Model Rules),
  • section 71 (Property of defunct association) changed to meet Australian Tax Office requirements to ensure the association remains a not-for-profit,
  • a new definition added to the Dictionary (“walking and other active mobility”) and consequent minor editorial change, and 
  • Part 1.8 (sample forms) and associated references deleted. 

The additions and altered text are shown in purple in the document.

Agenda

The business of the meeting will be:

1. Welcome and Acknowledgement

2. Chairperson appointment: To open the meeting and elect an interim chairperson.

3. Attendance roll

4. Setting up of Living Streets Canberra as a not-for-profit incorporated association

(a) Agreement to Incorporate: To form an incorporated association.

(b) Approval of Association Name: To approve the proposed name of the association as “Living Streets Canberra Inc.”

(c) Adoption of Constitution: To consider and, if thought fit, pass a resolution to adopt the proposed Constitution of the association.

(d) Election of Committee Members: To elect the initial management committee (president, secretary, treasurer, other committee members).

(e) Election of Public Officer: To elect the initial public officer to act as the contact between the association and Access Canberra.

(f) Authorisation for Incorporation: To authorise the public officer to lodge the application for incorporation with Access Canberra.

5. Operation of Bank Accounts

(a) Authorisation of Treasurer to set up bank accounts comprising a suitable transaction account, with two to sign, with an attached Debit Card Account to be operated by the Treasurer 

(b) Agreement that two signatories be required to approve payments from the account.

(c) Authorisation of signatories to accounts

6. General Business: To discuss any other preliminary matters regarding the establishment of the association.
